Definitely Not Normal

I sit looking out my home office window at the landscaped lawn of my neighbor, the inflatable grinning pumpkin looking at me as if to say, "Everything is Normal".  But, I know it isn't.

Trick or Treating and the neighborhood party will go as planned this year, and kids will get too much candy to possibly eat, but there is an undercurrent of Definitely Not Normal.

We all know that Covid changed our lives in ways from which we can never recover.  We cannot bring back those who died from the disease, attend weddings that had no receptions, baptisms with no witnesses, and funerals that happened virtually.  We can't undo.

The funny thing is, there is so much more that changed over the last year that should be unrelated to the disease but that changed us and our country in profound ways nonetheless.  Our country experienced a seismic shift towards communism, was split into two ideologically, what was right is now wrong and what was wrong is now right.  How did a pandemic cause this? The answer is, of course, it didn't.  It simply acted as the curtain over our eyes as the operation was performed.  And now, here we are.

Today the huge rift sits not with conservatives and liberals, nor black people and white people, but with the Vaccinated (Clean) and the Unvaccinated (Unclean).  I  have heard this shift is very similar to the situation in Germany before Hitler began the genocide of Jews, who were his version of the Unclean.  Everything that is bad in the world will is blamed on the Unvaccinated and they are slowly being coerced to take the jab or lose their income, homes, ability to shop or sell, and possibly, their lives.

As an unvaccinated person myself, I wonder what will happen to all of us.  Will we fight the mandates?  Become wards of the government and live in internment camps?  Or create a parallel America with new companies, hospitals, schools, stores, military and means of production?  I prefer the latter, as I see the two sides of our country have nothing at all in common.  Not a single common virtue, not a single common view of what our country should and shouldn't be.  Not even a common definition of what it means to BE a country.  It's sad, but we have to live, so a parallel country may just be the way to do it.

Why can't the doctors, ER staff, nurses create new hospitals?  What would it take?  Do they need equipment? Money? Investors? I'm sure there are business leaders who are also unvaccinated that could help get these set up.  As the mainstream hospitals lose money and shut down, perhaps the new "Unvaxxed" hospitals could purchase the equipment, or buy the hospital buildings, creating alternate medical sites for the unvaccinated that won't be treated at the mainstream hospitals.

Schools could open for teachers and students who are not vaccinated.  Restaurants could be opened just for those who are not vaccinated. And businesses whose employees were let go due to choosing to be unvaccinated should re-group and be opened by and for the unvaccinated.

A parallel economy, yes.  It seems the only sensical direction to take...
